A sense of home - cosy winter wedding at Glebe House

For a winter wedding what more could you want then a feeling of home, where family and friends linger over a long dinner, children play in the sitting room and family photos surround special moments. John & Julie’s winter wedding in Devon bolthole Glebe House was all flickering candlelight, roaring log fires and incredible food.

When Julie first contacted me to request all British flowers in late November I knew I was up for the challenge. Being outside my main growing season meant buying in some incredible Cornish scented paperwhite narcissi, leaning in to the textures and charm of evergreen foliage and embracing dried elements from my cutting garden. With a green and white wintery theme and accents of blue eryngium as a nod to John’s heritage. I layered the scents of paperwhite narcissi with rosemary, eucalyptus and scented geranium leaf. The pearlescent honesty seedpods shone in the winter sunlight and twinkled by candlelight.

Floral touches were kept thoughtful with a delicate flower crown for the flower girl, a hair pin for Julie’s daughter and generous buttonholes for John and his best men. With an elegant cake by Sweet Satisfaction Cakes simply adorned with more flowers. Julie enthused “the flowers were beautiful and completely fitting for the occasion and time of year. I had a fantastic time using all local folk, I felt so lucky that everyone gave me the very best”. Emma Stoner captured all the cosy charm of the day beautifully.
